Central Nebraska AHEC
Central Nebraska AHEC was established in 2001 as the first AHEC center in Nebraska. Located in Grand Island, Nebraska, CN-AHEC serves the largest geographic region that covers 34 counties with a population of 335,000. CN-AHEC works with schools, colleges, hospitals, communities, and other agencies to promote health care. CN-AHEC is a non-profit organization that is federally and locally funded.
The goal of Nebraska AHEC Program is to promote healthier communities through workforce development, health education partnerships and access to quality healthcare. This mission is accomplished by CN-AHEC by improving the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals through partnerships among healthcare, academic and community providers in 34 counties in central Nebraska.
Promote, design, and develop continuing education oppportunities for health care professionals.
Promote health care professions to students through various activities such as health care summer camps, science meets, and student activities.
Recruit health care workers to rural Nebraska communities through rural clinical rotations of collegiate health care students.
